NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming, is a science and methodology for understanding and changing human behaviour.
NLP is the study of your subjective reality, or to put it more simply, how your brain makes you behave and feel the way you do.
Imagine your brain is like a computer that has been programmed with software and hardware that you didn't know about, and no-one has left you a users guide! NLP is the user guide for your brain.
NLP believes that most of our behaviour is learnt, for example you don't see small babies with phobias of flying or self esteem issues. We learn our behaviour from our experiences and the people around us as we grow up, and this programs our brain to perceive things and to react to the world in a certain way.
NLP allows you to understand what these programs are, and then re-program them. because our behaviour is learnt, we are able to unlearn it!
How does it work?
Your brain stores all its experiences as pictures, sounds and feelings, if you change how your brain recognizes these experiences you can change how you respond to them.
Your brain doesn't know the difference between what is real and what happens in your head
Your imagination is always more powerful than your will power
Everyone has their own view of the world
What can you use it for?
Simply to change the way you think or feel and therefore how you behave.
NLP provides us with choice; choice in what we feel, think, do, and therefore ultimately in what we achieve. It has transformed what is possible in the ways in which we can communicate, influence, manage and achieve whatever you really want.
NLP can help if you want to:
Manage your emotions - so that you can be more resourceful, proactive, and in control.
Increase self esteem, confidence and energy.
Do whatever you already do reasonably well, even better
